Operation Unite New York (OUNY) offers educational, cultural and community programs and events throughout the year that help youth to become informed, active participants in Hudson politics and cultural life. Our arts and educational programs help youth to succeed.
We serve over 200 youth and their families each year through programs like Art on the River!, Hudson Youth Government Day, College Tours, cultural events like Kwanzaa and the Hudson Black Arts & Cultural Festival, dance workshops (including Kuumba Dance & Drum, Pedestrian Movement, Hip Hop, and seasonal workshops with professional dancers), and ongoing youth-led service projects at Bliss Towers, local senior homes, and the Rotary Club. Workforce development projects like YOUTH IN ACTION: Earn-to-learn put youth into leadership roles, providing them with an opportunity to earn a modest salary as they learn through doing, while building a resume for college and future employment. 100% of Youth In Action participants have graduated from high school and gone to college.
OUNY has served the Hudson Valley community for over thirty years, and a majority of our youth empowerment programs focus on residents of Hudson that are underserved. Eighty percent of OUNY youth are young people of color. We see a direct and positive relationship between education, exposure to the arts, and vocational training in the arts which leads to growth in the socio-economic development and agency of all members of our community.
This position is a remarkable opportunity for the right individual to be a creative force in helping to realize the long-range growth and sustainability of a beloved organization serving youth and their families in the Hudson community.
