A vibrant and democratic society where all people have the community supports they need to thrive.
Educational Alliance brings together and partners with diverse communities in Lower Manhattan, offering individuals and families high-quality, multi-generational programs and services that enhance their well-being and socioeconomic opportunities.
Educational Alliance has a proud legacy as a Jewish organization whose values and approach are drawn from our teachings and history. We will continue to look to our rich past—our texts, symbols, rituals, and teachers—for inspiration and guidance.
Our Jewish identity animates our work every day through the following key values:
Educational Alliance’s Community Schools & Youth Development (CSYD) department plays an integral role in delivering high-quality youth development programming throughout the Lower East Side with services embedded in the school day, afterschool programs, and summer enrichment opportunities. In partnership with PS 64, PS 142, PS/MS 140, TSMS, and PS/MS 188, CSYD collaborates with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), NYC Office of Community Schools (OCS), The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and of course, our incredible local school communities, to continue to respond to the needs of young people and their families during the best and worst of times. Our robust team of social workers ensures that social-emotional learning concepts are present in all aspects of our work and that participants have access to individualized care and attention when needed. Our Community School Directors play a critical role in bringing a wealth of resources and opportunities directly to families, and our Program Directors rely on local talent to create a student-centered, experiential learning environment where students realize that the sky is their only limit.
CSYD strives for equity and social justice in our work at all levels, empowering youth to stand up for social change by providing them with the guidance, tools, and experience to understand their powers as change agents and assets in their communities. In addition, we rely heavily on the talented individuals from the Lower East Side to facilitate and lead our programs, as well as, encourage civic engagement.
