  • Job Description:

    Duties & responsibilities:

    Working closely with the Site Director and the Educational Specialist, the Counselor will:

    1. Provide home work assistance to participants
    2. Tutor participants in two or more of the following subjects: mathematics, science, language arts (including, reading comprehension, literature, writing and grammar) and social studies
    3. Supervise a group of up to 20 participants (with a coworker)
    4. Prepare and implement activity plans in areas of specialization and as identified and/or recommended by the Education Specialist and the Site Director
    5. Keep participant records, such as attendance and progress reports
    6. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Site Director
  • Required Skills/Experience:

    Minimum qualifications:

    1. Previous experience in the COMPASS-NYC program at the elementary school level (kindergarten to 5th grade)
    2. Expertise in one or more of the following areas: art & craft, music, language arts, STEM, physical fitness/organized sports
    3. Willingness to learn and to work closely and respectfully with children and coworkers
    4. Energetic
