  • Job Description:



    The Extended Learning Teacher develops and delivers academic intervention, enrichment, inquiry and/or project-based learning services. The person in this role prioritizes social-emotional development and creates an environment of trust and respect resulting in a welcoming and supportive instructional climate.



    1. Develop lesson plans based upon an inquiry/project-based learning framework provided by the organization.
    2. Assess students’ strengths, challenges, gaps in skills and knowledge, learning style and performance levels using a variety of methods, tools, and data. Establish goals for students learning based on both formal and informal assessments.
    3. Formulate and record ELA and social-emotional goals for each student.
    4. Provide focused tutoring for a small group of students
    5. Modify instructional plans to adjust for students’ individual needs. Show evidence of ongoing progress monitoring.
    6. Plan for and participate in enrichment, field trip and cultural activities, when applicable
    7. Work collaboratively to develop social-emotional learning activities.
    8. Engage with students during meals and/or snack periods to improve students’ social skills, promote community building and model positive behaviors.
    9. Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure student and staff safety. Closely supervise students during structured and unstructured times, including transitions, free time, and bus duty.
    10. Participate in orientation, professional development, staff meetings and family events.
    11. Perform other duties assigned by the employee’s supervisor



    1. Ability to develop and sustain relationships with children and families from different cultures and backgrounds
    2. Excellent team player with a collaborative approach to service delivery and conflict resolution
    3. High standards of professionalism in all aspects of performance
    4. Familiarity with current research in learning development, educational practice, and learning differences
    5. Ability to teach using a strengths-based, learner-focused model and strategies to support students who struggle to learn
    6. Effective oral and written communication skills
    7. Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with school administration, program staff, families, and community partners.
    8. Demonstrates efficiency, creativity, initiative, and flexibility. Excellent judgment and student-centered mindset.
    9. Meets deadlines
    10. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Smartboard technology and online platforms. Must be able to learn and successfully enter student and assessment data into EnCompass database.
  • Required Skills/Experience:


    1. Minimum of Associates Degree or Teaching Assistant Certification
    2. Preferred – teaching certification
    3. Fingerprint clearance
    4. Prior experience with Encompass Extended Learning programs preferred; must have met APPR expectations.
