Overview
The Kew-Forest School, a co-educational independent day school founded in 1918 in Forest Hill, New York serves a diverse population of approximately 215 students in Preschool (3-year-olds) through Grade 12. Kew-Forest is the longest-serving college preparatory school in Queens. Our community nurtures lifelong learners, our educators inspire young people, and our students support each other.
Kew-Forest is proud to enroll an astonishingly diverse student body representative of Queens and New York City, including approximately nine percent of whom are international students. Kew-Forest students have varied cultural, racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, and many are multilingual. The School promotes diversity in its hiring process and is committed to supporting its inclusive community by hiring culturally diverse faculty to work with our equally diverse students and families.
At Kew-Forest, our mission is to do more than just educate – it is to deeply inspire. The Kew-Forest School is embarking on an exciting new chapter as it enters its 108th year of operation. The individual who joins our community to fill this position must be energetic, creative, imaginative, and thoughtful in their approach to after-school programming as the School enters its era of Kew-Forest 2.0.
To support our community’s need for a safe and engaging end to the school day, we offer our Afterschool Care Program (“Afterschool”) for children in Pre-K through Grade 6. Designed with our Kew-Forest families in mind, the program provides a secure and nurturing environment where children can grow socially, physically, emotionally, and academically after school.
The Afterschool Program offers optional mini-course activities, such as Chess, Legos, Drama, and more. Early drop off (Morning Care) is also available with supervised play in the gym for parents who need to drop off their child before the school day begins.
