Position Overview
Group Leaders report directly to the Campus Director and Assistant Director and are responsible for the overall care, supervision, and safety of a designated group of participants. Working collaboratively with Senior Group Leaders, Activity Specialists, and fellow Group Leaders, they conduct age-appropriate activities that promote learning, engagement, and positive youth development.
Group Leaders support the implementation of enriching programming in areas such as S.T.E.A.M., Dance, Physical Enrichment, Career Exploration, Arts and Crafts, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and other enrichment activities. They also assist participants with homework completion, foster a safe and inclusive environment, and encourage positive behavior and meaningful participation. Depending on experience and performance, Group Leaders may assume additional responsibilities, including lesson planning and leading instruction across various content areas.
This position is part of the Youth and Family Services division at Sunnyside Community Services, which provides a continuum of programs including pre-kindergarten, after-school programming for elementary and middle school youth, high school job readiness, career readiness, enrichment programming, and Adult and Immigrant Services.
 Position Responsibilities

<ul style="text-align: left">
 	<li>Supervise a group of children along with other Group Leaders and provide for the safety and well-being of participants.</li>
 	<li>Maintain daily attendance, homework completion, and health check logs, as well as other required documentation including sign-in/out forms, incident reports and summary logs as appropriate.</li>
 	<li>Prepare materials and examples in advance for participant understanding during activities and assist with age-appropriate lesson plans relevant to the program theme.</li>
 	<li>Provide Homework Help and track completion of participant assignments.</li>
 	<li>Assist with lesson/activity for the day; assist and engage participants and lead by example.</li>
 	<li>Assist with planning and preparation of special events and projects.</li>
 	<li>Meet regularly with supervisors and other staff members to share best practices and address challenges.</li>
 	<li>Attend essential workshops and mandated training.</li>
 	<li>Adhere to all DOH, DOE, DYCD, and SCS expectations and regulations.</li>
</ul>

 	<li>Maintain the cleanliness of program space in accordance with applicable guidelines and ensure program supplies are well organized and in good condition.</li>
 	<li>Provide guidance and supervise SYEP and volunteers.</li>
</ul>

 	<li>Follow through with other responsibilities as assigned.</li>
 	<li>Candidates with stronger prior experience in lesson planning and leading group instruction may be hired at the higher end of the pay range and be given additional responsibilities such as:</li>
</ul>
Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate activities, lesson plans, events, and projects relevant to program themes that include presentations and visuals for participants in the areas of art, dance, STEM, SEL, and physical enrichment onsite and in-person.

Salary:             $17-$21 per hour
Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:30PM-6:00PM (with limited opportunity for additional hours based on programming)

Required Skills/Experience

Requirements

<ul>
 	<li style="text-align: left">Must be 18 years old or older.</li>
 	<li style="text-align: left">Must be available Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-6:00pm (limited flexibility to accommodate school schedules).</li>
 	<li style="text-align: left">High School Diploma, some college or relevant degree preferred.</li>
 	<li style="text-align: left">Relevant experience working with young people in a school or after school environment, including facilitating lessons for a group, lesson planning, and group management, is preferred (training available).</li>
 	<li style="text-align: left">Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.</li>
 	<li style="text-align: left">After school staff are expected to remain committed to the position through the end of the school year in June. Staff are welcome to apply for available summer camp positions.</li>
 	<li style="text-align: left">Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all required background clearances and mandatory online training.         </li>
