  • Job Description:

    Position Overview: 

    We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic, and team-oriented Group Leaders to work with students in grades K-8 to assist Activity specialists with homework help, recreational activities, lesson implementation, overall supervision and ensuring the wellbeing of participants and the program environment. We are looking for team members who can support diverse and comprehensive activities that highlight life skills and soft skills for youth. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development and is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where students can grow as confident and capable young leaders. 

    This position will be a part of our Youth and Family Services offered at Sunnyside Community Services, which includes a pre-kindergarten program, after-school programs for elementary and middle school students, high school job readiness, career readiness, and enrichment programming as well as adult and immigrant Services. 

    Operating Hours: Monday – Friday 2 PM-6PM work schedules may vary.

  • Required Skills/Experience:

    Requirements:  

    • Must be at least 18 years old by the start of the role.  
    • Experience working with children in a school, camp, or community setting.  
    • Ability to multitask and be present in a busy classroom environment.  
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.  
    • Patience, adaptability, and a passion for working with youth.  
    • Be a dependable and contributing member of the after-school team.  
    • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check by The New York Public Schools (PETS) 
    • High School Diploma/ GED 
    • FULL Ability to work in person Monday- Friday during after school hours – remote options are not available
