    Overview

    The Kew-Forest School, a PS-12 co-educational day school founded in 1918 in Forest Hills, NY, seeks an experienced Summer Camp Administrative Office Assistant to join our six-week in-person Summer Camp team. Camp starts Monday, July 7th, and ends Friday, August 15th. Our campers range in age from Kindergarten through Grade 6.

We are seeking an energetic and creative individual who can bring fresh ideas and a thoughtful approach to our popular summer program as we enter the era of Kew-Forest 2.0.

    Responsibilities include supporting and assisting the Camp Director and Assistant Director in or with:

    • Engaging with campers during camp activities, events, and trips;
    • Maintaining a high level of flexibility and professionalism at all times and communicating behavioral expectations to campers;
    • Managing and maintaining attendance sheets/logs;
    • Maintaining professional relationships with other staff and parents and professionally representing Kew-Forest;
    • Becoming knowledgeable about summer camp programs, policies, and procedures to answer questions and provide assistance to camper parents as well as summer camp staff;
    • Performing administrative duties including, but not limited to, word processing, photocopying, and filing paperwork;
    • Performing camp specific administrative duties including, but not limited to, managing the camper database, data entry of camper registrations, producing camp rosters, and printing and entering camper surveys;
    • Processing camper registrations and confirmation letters in a thorough and timely manner;
    • Assisting with answering the telephone and making registration-related phone calls, including making calls related to payments due;
    • Greeting and assist parents entering the office to register campers or turn in paperwork or payments;
    • Regularly checking voicemail and camp email inbox for messages and returning calls when necessary;
    • Helping organize the office and maintain efficient systems;
    • Helping support with staff coverage in the event a staff member is absent;
    • Facilitating activities for extended care Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm;
    • Attending meetings, as needed; and
    • Performing other duties, as needed.

    Skills and Experience

    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum of one year experience in a camp program or related work with children.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of youth engagement through recreational and artistic activities.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of group and behavior management, and positive youth development principles.
    • Passion for creating engaging recreational experiences for youth in Grades K-6.
    • Demonstrated professionalism with ability to manage multiple responsibilities, while maintaining flexibility and a positive team-oriented attitude.
    • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and enforce program and department policies.
    • Flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.

    Hours and Compensation

    • Six-week program between June – August 2025
    • Full-time position
    • Full summer commitment is required
    • Monday – Thursday, from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm
    • Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
    • Pay rate: $20.00 per hour
