IMANI HOUSE, Inc. has provided youth development services for Brooklyn communities since 1998. Our first youth project was a Summer Computer Day Camp for 20 inner-city teens which received support from Senator Velmanette Montgomery. Citibank also supported the program in the form of computer donations which we used to train our students.
Since then our program has grown into a year-round service , providing after-school and summer programming and catering to over 240+ elementary aged children annually. With a focus on assisting our children socially, emotionally, physically and academically the project serves children in grades Pre-K – 5th and is housed in P.S./M.S. 282 in Parkslope. During the school year the program operates from 2:45 pm-5:45pm and during 13 school closing holidays we are open from 8am- 5:45 pm. Summer programs run from 8am- 5:45pm , 5 days a week for 8 weeks.
To meet our goals of assisting children holistically we offer a wide variety of activities including tutoring, homework assistance, STEM, field trips (during the summer and school closing holidays), karate, archery, several dance disciplines, drama, creative writing, arts and crafts and much more. All of our staff are experienced working with children and pass several in-house and city background/reference and health checks. Imani House’s Afterschool Program is licensed and insured, Better Business Bureau accredited and an America’s Promise Place.
