Our goal is to nourish the spiritual and intellectual lives of our congregants and our community by providing educational, religious, social, and recreational activities which further the causes and objectives of Judaism, the Jewish people, and the State of Israel. More than any other institution, the synagogue ensures the continuity of Judaism by facilitating the interaction of all generations and reinforcing the idea that the Jewish people are extended family.

Woodside on the Move, Inc

Woodside on the Move was founded on September 24, 1976 with the mission to improve the conditions of the Woodside commercial district. During the first 10 years the organization ran under the leadership and vision of Mr. Kevin Mahon. His foresight and vitality steered WOTM to become a leading force in the revitalization of the Woodside community. The organization developed programs to improve Woodside’s housing, industry, and commerce and provided the community with free cultural performances, as well as recreational and educational activities for children. Today we have become a leading force in NYC tenant advocacy initiatives as part of the Queens chapter of the housing coalition Stabilizing NYC and one of the largest free after school and summer camp providers in the city, serving over 800 elementary school children in the community.

Educational Alliance

OUR VISION A vibrant and democratic society where all people have the community supports they need to thrive. OUR MISSION Educational Alliance brings together and partners with diverse communities in Lower Manhattan, offering individuals and families high-quality, multi-generational programs and services that enhance their well-being and socioeconomic opportunities. OUR VALUES Educational Alliance has a proud legacy as a Jewish organization whose values and approach are drawn from our teachings and history. We will continue to look to our rich past—our texts, symbols, rituals, and teachers—for inspiration and guidance. Our Jewish identity animates our work every day through the following key values: Every person is born with a divine spark of dignity and creativity. We are a joyful, open-tent community where everyone is welcome. Universal education is necessary for equal citizenship. Community Schools & Youth Development (CSYD) Educational Alliance’s Community Schools & Youth Development (CSYD) department plays an integral role in delivering high-quality youth development programming throughout the Lower East Side with services embedded in the school day, afterschool programs, and summer enrichment opportunities.  In partnership with PS 64, PS 142, PS/MS 140, TSMS, and PS/MS 188, CSYD collaborates with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), NYC Office of Community Schools (OCS), The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and of course, our incredible local school communities, to continue to respond to the needs of young people and their families during the best and worst of times. Our robust team of social workers ensures that social-emotional learning concepts are present in all aspects of our work and that participants have access to individualized care and attention when needed. Our Community School Directors play a critical role in bringing a wealth of resources and opportunities directly to families, and our Program Directors rely on local talent to create a student-centered, experiential learning environment where students realize that the sky is their only limit.  CSYD strives for equity and social justice in our work at all levels, empowering youth to stand up for social change by providing them with the guidance, tools, and experience to understand their powers as change agents and assets in their communities. In addition, we rely heavily on the talented individuals from the Lower East Side to facilitate and lead our programs, as well as, encourage civic engagement.
