    Description

    The Temporary Extended Learning Time Specialist is a 6-month, full time position responsible for working collaboratively with the Extended Learning Time team on the planning, implementation and evaluation of the city-wide Summer Camp initiative and other initiatives that may arise. The position runs 4/1/23-9/30/23. The Summer Camp initiative is a partnership between Say Yes Buffalo, Buffalo Public Schools (BPS), the City of Buffalo, Erie County, philanthropic organizations, and dozens of community-based, faith-based and parent organizations.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate site partner trainings, including scheduling, planning, and leading trainings
    • Provide on-going guidance and support to Summer Camp site partners to ensure they are able to implement high-quality camp sites and comply with Say Yes expectations
    • Interface with students, parents, and community members, providing information and answering questions regarding Summer Camp
    • Assist with Summer Camp student enrollment promotions, including providing promotional materials to site partners and tabling/speaking at community events
    • Process student applications, coordinating with site partners to add students to rosters
    • Oversee distribution, return and storage of curriculum and other materials to/from site partners
    • Coordinate weekly site competitions, including identifying winners and coordinating prizes
    • Perform site visits during Summer Camp to ensure the quality and fidelity of implementation
    • Coordinate with Breaking Barriers to plan and schedule social justice workshops at camp sites
    • Coordinate with School-Based Services and health partners to schedule and implement mobile health clinic days, including scheduling clients and ensuring the completion of intake paperwork
    • Assist with updating and/or creating data collection tools
    • Assist with the collection and analysis of Summer Camp process and outcome data, including but not limited to student attendance, student academic participation, site visit rubrics, camp reports, satisfaction survey results, academic pre/post data, and social-emotional pre/post data
    • Document the Summer Camp initiative through photography and video
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Extended Learning and Quality Improvement
  • Required Skills/Experience:

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience working in the Extended Learning Time field OR Associate degree and three (3) years of experience working in the Extended Learning Time field
    • Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
    • Valid NYS Driver’s License
    • Reliable transportation with a clean driving record
    • Strong work ethic and a passion for helping others
