    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    Job Title: Site Coordinator – High School Day & After School Program

    Reports to: Senior Program Manager 

    Job Type: Full-Time (Non- Exempt)

     

    SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Senior Program Manager with guidance from President & CEO and Principal, Assistant Principal, and in accordance with PowerPlay NYC rules and regulations the 21st Century Site Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and leading the 21st Century grant‐funded after school program. Additionally, this position will be working with Platinum Edge Tutoring for 40 % of their work time.

    The 21st CCLC Program is a day/after school and summer enrichment opportunity for students who qualify for free- or reduced-price lunch and/or are not meeting academic standards. Students are invited to take part in this free opportunity. Families of student participants are offered family engagement and education opportunities. This position will be working with high school students.

    This position will be responsible for compliance, overseeing the academic intervention, sports and enrichment programming. The site coordinator will focus on work to increase parental involvement in students’ education and encourage parents to attend events. Design and implement Family Literacy Events, after‐school clubs and community outreach throughout the school year.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

    • Coordinate, plan and guide the activities during after school, aligning with and providing support to the school day and individual student needs, to help students achieve state standards.
    • Act as a contact person for the agency and their assigned school staff. Establish a professional relationship with assigned school staff, students, and community partners.
    • Maintain an open line of communication with parents/guardians using tools and strategies provided by the program and/or the school district.
    • Implement the grant program as outlined in the grant application and integrate new program materials as required.
    • Organize and maintain up‐to‐date records (attendance, enrollment and activities in Youth Services and EZ-Reports) for all programs and participants.
    • Work in conjunction with the finance department, program evaluator and Senior Program Manager to coordinate the site budget and prepare all travel documentation.
    • Develop and execute Advisory Council Meetings that include parents and other stakeholders on a quarterly basis during the school year.
    • Design and execute family events for all members of the school’s community
    • Propose ways to engage and communicate with parents and increase parental involvement in their children’s education and wellbeing
    • Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION

    • This is 100% on-site position, no remote option
    • 95% of the job will be performed at the high school location but may have to come into PowerPlay office once in a while for training

     

  • Required Skills/Experience:

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience coordinating activities in an out‐of‐school time setting
      • Must be at least 21 years old.
    • Must meet all licensing requirements under the Department of Human Services of the state and local governments.
    • Must complete and maintain current status in First Aid and CPR.
    • Must possess and demonstrate ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care and routines of the program’s children, including but not limited to; interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc., lifting children and or equipment, and participating in outdoor activities, field trips and swimming as needed.
    • Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults, as well as staff and personnel.
    • Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program related, and supervisory responsibilities
    • Understanding and knowledge of public-school operations is helpful.
    • Commitment to helping students succeed, with an emphasis on urban schools with diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for helping students develop academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
    • Ability to identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
    • Ability to deliver/supervise school‐age programs and possess problem‐solving abilities.
    • Ability to maintain a positive academic atmosphere conducive to learning and the safety of the students, and willingness to collaborate with community partners to enhance the instructional environment.
    • Accepts responsibility for leading the program to meet stated objectives and performance goals, target enrollment, activity hours, academic achievement, youth development, and parent engagement.
    • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.

    EDUCATION

    • Minimum education requirement: Associates Degree

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
    • Knowledge of utilizing Google Drive to receive and share documents
