    Location and Overview:

    Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is currently searching a Program Specialist for our Amazing Afternoon, Afterschool Program located in the Elmsford School district. Under the general supervision of the Education Coordinator and Teacher, the Program Specialist will provide supervision to youth enrolled in the program, assist with homework help and recreational activities. This is a part-time, 15 hours per week position. The program is held from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

    WJCS, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1943 and has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester county. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds throughout Westchester.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Observe the student behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or appropriate corrective action as necessary to support youth in making positive behavior choices.
    • Document and review group learning progress to share with participants and staff.
    • Responsible for designated group for duration of program or until replacement Program Specialist arrives, as groups must always remain under supervision.
    • Attendance and participation at all required staff meetings, trainings, and development activities and community meetings when possible.

    Ideal candidates will possess the following:

    • A High School Diploma is required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field preferred.
    • Proven ability to work with youth, adults and families.
    • Computer skills and experience with data collection and management required.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
    • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

    Hourly Rate:

    • $15.00 – $18.00/hour.
