  • Job Description:

    The Say Yes Buffalo’s Extended Learning Time Manager is a full-time position responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of a city-wide Summer Camp initiative in partnership with the Buffalo Public School (BPS) District, the City of Buffalo, Erie County, and various community and faith-based organizations.  The Extended Learning Time Manager reports to the Senior Director of Community Schools.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Embed REI principles and practices in development, implementation, evaluation of the extended learning activities.
    • Devise funding strategies for the sustainability of Summer Camp and identify potential funding sources.
    • Manage the overall Summer Camp fundraising workplan. Assist with writing grant proposals and reports.
    • Coordinate the overall implementation of the Summer Camp initiative, in partnership with the Extended Learning Time team and various community stakeholders.
    • Develop and monitor completion of the annual Summer Camp workplan.
    • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
    • Lead, manage, develop, and collaborate with the department’s employees and volunteers.
    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance and sound risk management practices are exercised.
    • Build and maintain strategic relationships through networking with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, agency participants, community-based organizations, funders, and elected officials.
    • Coordinate Request For Proposals (RFP) launch and review process to select Summer Camp site partners.
    • Organize the contracting process for community-based organizations to host camp sites and provide various program components.
    • Facilitate regular partner meetings.
    • Develop policies and procedures to allow for effective, high-quality programming across the Summer Camp initiative.
    • Perform onsite program visits with key stakeholders.
    • Annually review/update program evaluation methods, including selection/creation of data collection tools.
    • Conduct annual process and outcome evaluation, including overseeing data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.
    • Produce annual Summer Camp report and disseminate to key stakeholders.
    • Create slide decks and lead presentations to key stakeholder groups.
    • Assist with program marketing and outreach.
    • Demonstrate strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
    • Participate in the budget development process and maintain a high level of fiscal responsibility.
    • Responsible for fiscal management that operates within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the department in a positive financial position.

  • Required Skills/Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years or related professional experience, OR Associate degree plus five (5) years of releated professional experience
    • Strong skills in the following areas:
    • Project management
    • Data collection/analysis
    • Verbal and written communication
    • Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Leading and managing a team
    • Ability to effectively convene and collaborate with various organizations and key stakeholders
    • Valid NYS Driver’s License
