    Position Summary:

    Under the direction of the Director of Business Services & Child Care Supply, the Business Services & Child Care Supply Specialist is responsible for providing intensive technical assistance, support and training for regulated child care providers applying for OCFS Grants (50%). This position will also support the Coordinator of Child Care Supply & Referral in providing parent services, employer services and referrals (50%).

     

    As a Business Services & Child Care Supply Specialist, You Will:

    1. Plan and provide intensive technical assistance, support and training for regulated child care programs
    2. Learn about the business grants and application processes available through OCFS.
    3. Conduct outreach, webinar/trainings to child care programs on OCFS grants, including some evening and weekend sessions to ensure greatest reach.
    4. Assist child care programs with all steps in preparing and submission to the grant process.
    5. Understand best practices for child care businesses and aids child care businesses to follow best practices.
    6. Review child care program grant applications, provide feedback, and assist in ensuring compliance with grant application requirements.
    7. Provide technical assistance and training to support the business practices of child care programs.
    8. Access the OCFS grant management system, Salesforce, to review the status of applications and assists with issues.
    9. Call all providers in the services area to ensure understanding of available grants.
    10. Provide one-on-one and or small group assistance and onsite visits for programs who need individualized support.
    11. Promote or conduct business trainings for the quarterly training calendar thorough the service delivery area.
    12. Work collaboratively with OCFS with changes to the grant process.
    13. In partnership with the Coordinator of Child Care Supply and Referral, will assist in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of an annual Child Care Supply and Referral work plan, counsel referral clients who are seeking child care, and provide outreach presentations to providers, community partners and other employers to promote services of CCRN while seeking to establish and strengthen partnerships and collaborations. As an identified Business Specialist, time will be spent specifically on outreach and support designed to promote child care business success.
  • Required Skills/Experience:

    What You Will Bring to this Position:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field with one year experience in administrative support and customer service; or Associate Degree in Business or related field and three years of experience.
    • Willingness to travel in Erie County
    • Knowledge of early care and education.
    • General knowledge of Child Care Facility System (CCFS) and Empire State Child Care Match preferred
    • Efficient keyboarding, phone etiquette and filing skills.
    • Ability to organize, prioritize, pay attention to detail and effectively handle multiple tasks and projects.
    • Excellent human relation skills as well as the ability to communicate, orally and in writing, with a wide range of people including the current predominant linguistic, racial and ethnic populations of Erie County.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft© Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Ability to carry out assignments without direct supervision.
    • Multilingual in English and Spanish or other languages that would support servicing our customers, a plus.
