  • Job Description:

    We’re looking for energetic, caring, responsible people who enjoy working with kids

    to be counselors  in the following schools:

    • Crosby Elementary (Kingston)
    • Chambers Elementary (Kingston)
    • Edson Elementary (Kingston)
    • George Washington Elementary (Kingston)
    • John F. Kennedy Elementary (Kingston)
    • Ellenville Elementary
    • Kerhonkson Elementary (Rondout)
    • Marbletown Elementary (Rondout)
    • Lenape Elementary (New Paltz)
    • Highland Elementary
    • Marlboro Elementary

     

    Morning shifts are from 6:45 a.m. to start of school (depends on site; 9 a.m. at most schools)

    Afternoon shifts are from 2:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.

     

    As a counselor, you will:

    • Create a welcoming, safe, and caring space for children and their families
    • Ensure safety and supervision to a group of children
    • Work in a team environment that upholds the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, & Responsibility
    • Collaborate with staff to plan and lead a variety of activities including sports and games, arts and crafts, STEM, and more
    • Maintain daily attendance records
    • Serve snack
    • Support children with homework when needed
    • Maintain a relationship with families
    • Ensure safety rules and guidelines are followed as they relate to children and staff
    • Respond appropriately to emergencies and report all incidents to the appropriate supervisor

  • Required Skills/Experience:

    Must be 18+ and willing to complete a background check and do online training.

    Childcare experience preferred.

    Able to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities .

    Excellent communication skills.

    It is a plus if you have:

    • CPR & First Aid certification
    • Availability to work mornings
    • College coursework in education, social work, human services, or recreation
