After School Program Instructor – Part-Time - Seasonal

Are you passionate about building community and promoting social competence? Do you have experience working with kindergarten through 8th grade school students?

Peaceful Schools is seeking experienced and enthusiastic seasonal part-time After School Program Instructors to apply their experience and expertise in specific academic, cultural, and social justice content to support the positive youth development of students K-8 who participate in the after-school program. These educators build community and promote social competence by integrating Peaceful People Social Skills Curriculum and other enriching content. The after-school program runs Monday-Thursday from October-May. Instructors should expect to work with one elementary and one middle school class daily. Positions are based at HW Smith in Syracuse, NY.

Duties &amp; Responsibilities:
<ul>
 	<li>Work collaboratively with Peaceful Schools enrichment team.</li>
 	<li>Support the creation and management of the peaceful classroom climate and a safe learning environment.</li>
 	<li>Develop and implement engaging, interactive, and hands-on lesson plans using assigned templates.</li>
 	<li>Plan for needed supplies and follow company policies to request and receive them.</li>
 	<li>Maintain accurate student attendance/discipline records.</li>
 	<li>Actively participate in professional development and training, as well as in select school-based trainings and meetings if applicable.</li>
 	<li>Actively participate in Peaceful Schools staff trainings and meetings as assigned.</li>
 	<li>Reflect the mission and vision of Peaceful Schools.</li>
 	<li>Display strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills in line with the Peaceful Schools Core Values.</li>
 	<li>Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems.</li>
 	<li>Follow all company and SCSD building policies, procedures, and protocols.</li>
 	<li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>

Required Skills/Experience

Qualifications:
<ul>
 	<li>Experience working in a K-12 setting preferred.</li>
 	<li>Knowledge and experience planning and conducting educational lessons/activities for youth.</li>
 	<li>Computer and social media literate including basics in Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.</li>
</ul>
Working Conditions &amp; Physical Requirements:
<ul>
 	<li>Part-time Temporary/Seasonal non-exempt position. Position ends on the last day of After School Program, on or about May 16th, depending on snow days.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
 	<li>Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, 1:45 – 4:45 p.m.</li>
 	<li>Attend professional development and full after-school staff meetings in SCSD building as necessary and/or assigned.</li>
 	<li>Attend Peaceful Schools meetings and/or trainings as assigned.</li>
 	<li>Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.</li>
