  • Job Description:

    The job entails working in a school environment with elementary age young people assisting them with homework, serving snacks and providing recreational and educational programming in a setting where there will be one counselor for every 10 youth.  Applicant must be willing to wor4k Monday to Friday between 2:15 pm and 6:30pm.  Hours vary by school but are no less than three hours per day each day that schools are in full day session.  Applicant must also be able to get to the schools on time each day hopefully residing in the area of Western Nassau County or Eastern Queens.  Counselors must be at least 16 years of age and NOT be involved in clubs or sports that would hinder their being at program every day Monday through Friday.  Parents are welcome to apply for positions as well as Gateway Youth Outreach Inc. will provide them with free afterschool care for their children in one of the 4 buildings in The Elmont Union Free School District where GYO provides programs.  A full, paid, orientation/training is provided for all employees letting them know what their duties will entail and the expectations of the GYO After School Program.  All applicants should provide a resume.
