SCHEDULE:
● Part-time, 20 hours per week with flexibility in scheduling.
● Availability needed between 10 AM – 6 PM (exact hours to be determined).
● Opportunity for summer programming with potential expanded hours (between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday).
Degree Requirement: This role specifically requires a Master’s in Social Work (MSW), no alternative degrees will be considered.
SALARY: $30/hr

ABOUT THE ROLE
GINYC seeks a dedicated Counselor Advocate to support youth enrolled in the COMPASS High program. The Counselor Advocate plays a crucial role in case management services, providing social, emotional, and academic support through one-on-one meetings in a private setting. This individual will assist students with goal setting, academic planning, and accessing resources, while also monitoring their progress in areas such as school attendance, grades, and overall well-being.
The ideal candidate is a licensed social worker (MSW required) with a passion for youth development, strong case management skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Case Management & Student Support
● Develop and maintain a comprehensive case management system to track student progress, goals, and one-on-one supports.
● Conduct individualized check-ins with students to support their social-emotional and academic development.
● Provide referral information for internal and external resources, including city-funded services, counseling, and workforce development opportunities.
● Assist students with internship, summer job, and college applications, resume development, and portfolio building.
● Maintain secure case notes documenting student progress, attendance, and individualized participant plans (IPPs).
Academic & School Alignment
● Maintain strong knowledge of high school credit accumulation requirements to ensure students remain on track for promotion and graduation.
● Work closely with school personnel to support students’ academic needs, attendance, and overall well-being.
● Participate in regular meetings with school administrators, teachers, and program staff to discuss student progress and program outcomes.
Program & Cohort Support
● Connect students with program activities that align with their academic and personal development goals.
● Monitor student participation and relationships within the cohort, fostering a positive and supportive program environment.
● Collaborate with program staff to develop strategies for increasing student engagement and retention.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
● Master’s in Social Work (MSW) required.
● Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students, school personnel, external service providers, and parents/guardians.
● Strong knowledge of youth development, cultural diversity, high school coursework, and attendance requirements.
● Ability to maintain confidential case notes and track individualized participant plans (IPPs).
● Experience working in case management, counseling, or social work in a school or youth development setting.
● Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with school administrators, teachers, students, and families.
