  • Job Description:

    The Program Specialist will support the work of the School-Age Technical Assistance
    Resource Center (SATARC), a statewide initiative funded by the NYS Office of Children
    and Family Services (OCFS), with 42% of their time. The Program Specialist will assist
    in implementing the scope of work required by the SATARC contract, which includes
    providing technical assistance (TA), professional development, and ongoing support to
    OCFS-funded afterschool and out-of-school-time programs across New York State.
    In addition, with 58% of their time, this position will support the NYS School-Age Care
    (SAC) Credential infrastructure, including oversight of the day-to-day work of the
    credential, managing the distance learning (asynchronous) course, instructing the virtual
    SAC course, and supporting host agencies, instructors, advisors, and endorsers to
    ensure quality.
    This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in expanded learning programs
    who is passionate about improving quality, supporting youth-serving professionals, and
    advancing equity and access in the field.
    This position is 42% grant-funded.
    Travel, including overnight or weekend travel, will be required. Evening work may be
    necessary, particularly to facilitate training sessions.

    ● Moderates and facilitates in-person and virtual meetings, webinars, and trainings.
    ● Demonstrates excellent computer skills.
    ● Rapidly learns and uses software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Google
    Suite, WordPress, Asana, social media, and eTapestry.
    ● Resolves practical problems independently and adapt to changing priorities.
    ● Exhibit self-motivation in a non-traditional work environment
    ● Collaborates with partners and/or coalitions to advance the work of the field.
    ● Operates with limited supervision and successfully within a team.
    ● Displays a high level of individual initiative and creativity.
    Required Knowledge and Experience
    ● Knowledge of the afterschool and expanded learning field, or education and youth
    development programs generally.
    ● Adept at working with diverse populations.
    ● Knowledge of NYS SACC Processes, NYS SAC Credential Standards, Accreditation
    Standards, NYS OCFS Regulations, and Aspire, ECETP, and EIP systems.
    ● Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in an education-related field.
    ● Minimum of three years of programmatic and/or administrative experience in
    expanded learning or afterschool programming for youth in the past ten years.
    ● Experience supporting staff, leading programs, or delivering technical assistance is
    strongly preferred.
