82nd Street Academics seeks part-time Academic Coaches for our K-5th after-school program. The goal of our program is to provide the academic and social support needed for kids to be in the top 5 students of their public day-school.

We achieve these goals with homework help (A in homework) and a variety of fun activities following.

The hours of this position are Monday-Friday 2:15pm-6:30pm. There are meetings and professional developments that may occur outside of these hours.

• Responsibilities include:
  Manage a class of elementary-age students with policies, core values (delighted and empowered students), and culture of the school
  Facilitate homework completion that is also correct and a promise to parents
• Create lesson plans for teacher-guided activities after homework. We want engaged and delighted students who also learn study skills and build friendships with other success-minded students.
• Ensure student safety
• Engage with parents. Provide excellent customer service and a professional, caring demeanor
• Have a daily huddle with other staff in the same classroom and lead in dividing daily tasks

Education and Experience:

• Study plan towards college graduation with a BA (30 credits minimum)
• At least one year of experience working with the school-age group in a professional setting
• Commitment to the program through the end of June is a non-negotiable requirement
• Spanish, Mandarin or Bengali preferred 2nd language

Compensation: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour
