The Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the School-Age Child Care program. The Supervisor will ensure an orderly, safe and enjoyable program in all designated program spaces by implementing programs, helping and supervising both staff and students, ensuring programs are run in accordance with New York State Child Care policies, and working directly with parents.
Schedule: This position is Monday-Friday, 2:45 p.m -6:00 p.m, 20-29 hours a week.
The School-Age Child Care Program operates on school days; the program does not operate on ½ days, unplanned early dismissal days or days that all afterschool activities are canceled.
The Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the School-Age Child Care program. The Supervisor will ensure an orderly, safe and enjoyable program in all designated program spaces by implementing programs, helping and supervising both staff and students, ensuring programs are run in accordance with New York State Child Care policies, and working directly with parents.
Responsibilities:
● Oversee day-to-day operations of School-Age Child Care Program, including monitoring staff and students, proper sign-in/out procedures, oversee/assist with homework and snack and oversee all program activities.
● Provide supervision and leadership to all School-Age Child Care Teachers and Assistant Teachers.
● Create and communicate rosters, schedules and program documents with parents, Tri-Valley School District and Frost Valley YMCA.
● Work closely with Program Director to organize and plan for age specific craft/entertainment programs/physical activities, as well as completing/submitting reports and maintaining records regarding program activities
● Physically able to engage in active games with children, as well as set up program and activity spaces (examples include playing four square and moving chairs out of meeting spaces)
● Efficiently redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior.
● Assist in the preparation, cleaning and straightening of the room/program space and equipment before, during, and after the program
● Provide a positive environment that is conducive to the development of children’s peer-to-peer relationships.
● Responsible for upkeep of program equipment and supplies
● Report any concerns and questions regarding the program (students, parents, equipment needs, supplies, other staff, volunteers, etc.) to the Community Programs Director.
● Be a visible and participatory partner of the School-Age Child Care staff team.
● Maintain a positive work environment for staff, encouraging cooperation and problem solving.
● Maintain a high level of energy necessary to keep children active and motivated.
● Set a positive example for staff and children by practicing Frost Valley YMCA Core Values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Stewardship, Diversity, Inclusiveness and Community) and modeling appropriate ways to work with a diverse population of staff and children.
● Encourage respect for other people, the environment, personal property, program equipment and the Tri-Valley Central School facilities.
● Identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the program.
● Respond to any emergency situations that may arise during programming, providing first aid and/or seeking further medical attention.
● Support the mission of the Frost Valley YMCA.
