Position: Career Training Program Manager Department: Department of Educational and Career Services Location: Gerry; East Harlem FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt The Boys’ Club of New York (BCNY) is one of New York’s oldest and most well-respected youth development organizations and we are moving forward with an exciting and ambitious strategic agenda. To make this happen, we are adding to our strong team of talented professionals to deepen and broaden our impact Summary of Position The Boys’ Club of New York’s (BCNY) Department of Educational and Career Services is responsible for overseeing the implementation of programming aimed at helping members achieve post-secondary school success. The Career Training Program Manager is responsible for managing and facilitating all career training programs including BCNY internship programs, external internship placements, and BCNY in-clubhouse certification opportunities for Teen members ages 13-21. The Career Training Program Manager will work closely with Department staff to expand job and internship placements for BCNY members. Major Duties and Responsibilities • Facilitate BCNY programming Project Coach, Counselor in Training, and Summer Superheroes that hire and train BCNY Teen members. • Initiate and maintain on-going relationships with a variety of local businesses and industry representatives to promote BCNY members and to enhance, develop, and increase internship placements. • Manage BCNY’s internship placement program (Work in Progress Program). Oversee recruitment, placement, ongoing support, and successful transition post-placement. • Provide individual counseling to place members into vocational training programs. • Plan, lead, and execute internship and career fairs for BCNY members. • Accompany BCNY members to local career fairs in the New York City area. • Develop and lead career readiness workshops on topics like writing a resume, building interview skills, conducting a job search, and communicating with supervisors. • Develop and manage new internship placement initiatives with support from the Director of Educational and Career Services. • Work closely with Junior and Teen Departments and other departments across BCNY to develop and facilitate programming with respect to recruitment, internships, and employment/career services. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Youth Development, Counseling or Education; Master’s degree in related field desirable. Minimum three years related work experience related to youth-centered workforce and career development.
