    Organizational Description:

    Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) is a multi-service, community-based organization providing a broad range of services to approximately 16,000 people each year. Our services include pre-kindergarten and after school programs, college preparatory and career programs for teens and young adults, supports for immigrant, a vibrant senior center, dedicated home care services, support and assistance for family caregivers, and social adult day program for people with cognitive and physical impairments.

    Position Overview

    The Campus Director at PS 343 will be responsible for creating dynamic after-school, evening, and weekend programs utilizing youth development best practices and principles in conducting academic enrichment, project-based learning, leadership, arts and physical education activities for youth in kindergarten through high school, adults, and the broader Sunnyside community.

    This position will be a part of our youth and family services offered at Sunnyside Community Services, which includes a pre-kindergarten program, after-school programs for elementary and middle school students, high school job readiness, career/college readiness, and enrichment programming.

    This is a 12-month campus contracted for a Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Beacon and 21st Century Community Learning Center Elementary program. General hours of operation are 2pm – 9:30pm, Monday through Friday and Saturdays, 9am – 4pm. The Campus Director is expected to work some evenings and Saturdays, as needed. Both contracts require holiday camps, DYCD Beacon requires a full summer camp. DYCD Beacon requires1300 participants per a contract year of varying dosages and age groups. 21st CCLC requires 100 elementary youth.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee assigned contracts and ensure outcomes and expectations are met.
    • Design, develop, and support after-school, evening, and weekend programing.
    • Supervise a team consisting of an Assistant Director/Education Specialist, Program Coordinator, Program Assistant, Instructors and Group Leaders.
    • Organize program logistics, such as schedules, space reservations, resources needed, etc.
    • Build and maintain relationships with program stakeholders.
    • Collect and enter data into DYCD Connect, Salesforce and other funder/agency related databases in a timely manner.
    • Ensure adherence to Department of Health and Office of Children and Family regulations and prepare for program audits by funders and other evaluators.
    • Meet all contractual obligations, such as meeting enrollment, rate of participation, and timely reporting.
    • Ensure all contract budgets are tracked and maintained; partake in monthly fiscal meetings.
    • Work closely with families, parents, and guardians to ensure the needs of participants are met.
    • Create a strong sense of community which values respect, acceptance, and high expectations.
    • Other job-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or Associate’s Degree with at least 18 approved coursework credits in Child Development, Education or related fields.
    • Three or more years’ experience working with youth in an afterschool environment with at least two years’ experience in a supervisory role. Experience supervising K-12 programming desired.
    • Experience working with diverse communities.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) a plus
