Job Description:

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Teach literacy skills to English Language Learners in 6th, 7th and 8th grades at an after school program operating three days a week, five hours a week during after-school hours.

 

  • Develop individual education plans for each student, develop lesson plans, provide instruction, evaluate participant progress, and track relevant data.

 

  • Attend mandatory professional development trainings and meet regularly with supervisor and other staff members to share best practices and address challenges.

 

  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Required Skills/Experience:

Qualifications:

 

  • Certified teacher in ELL/ELA with minimum of two years experience or Master’s degree or educational background in ESL. Familiarity with ELA Exam and familiarity with LAS Links Benchmark Assessment is desired.

 

  • Experience working with immigrant population required.

 

  • Experience working with middle school students preferred.

 

  • Must be committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to the diverse cultures and backgrounds of participants.
