Job Summary: Provide programmatic and child-specific coaching and training to teaching staff, center directors, family child care providers, school-age child care providers, and parents; facilitating the adult learning related to the growth, development, and learning of children in the early child setting and home. Essential Functions: • Coordinate resources for community based projects and initiatives; including the engagement and education of families. • Develop and conduct workshops on requested topics and create training seminars for early childhood and school-age educators. • Offer ideas and resources for teaching children to early childhood and school-age educators. • Guide use of developmental, social and emotional screening tools. • Provide Practice Based Coaching (PBC) for early childhood and school-age staff. • Support classroom teaching strategies. • Keep current in knowledge of all modalities of early childhood and school-age child care. • Provide technical assistance on-site and over the telephone regarding child development and other relevant education topics. • Together with teaching staff and families, plan, implement, and monitor specific interventions for individual children or classrooms. • Help program staff foster relationships with community services and providers. • Work with program administration to develop policies and practices for working with children. • Develop and grow partnerships with schools and community organizations, and work collaboratively with site staff by providing site-specific training, consultation and coaching. • Maintain up-to-date records and program logs on all services provided. • Provide families with information on children's development. • Act as an advisor to School-Age Credential Candidates providing on-site mentoring and supervision. Additional Duties: • Facilitate weekly professional development workshops. • Provide regular onsite coaching in child care programs. • Model developmentally appropriate interactions/practices/strategies/techniques. • Conduct observation utilizing evidence-based (and setting appropriate) tools and analyze results to create and implement individualized actions plans and goals. • Encourage, support, motivate, and work interactively with caregivers to develop and implement goals. • Support caregivers to provide environments and opportunities which promote children’s growth and development. • Promote reflective practices. • Offer resources and strategies to staff to enhance relationships, create appropriate environments, and teach social-emotional skills in children. • Support providers to develop individual plans to improve their environments, teaching practices to support young children’s growth and development, and overall program quality. • Assist providers to identify resources in accordance with individual plans. Technology & Data System: • Consistent & accurate use of data collection systems. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. • Data analysis for interpretation & planning for effective execution of daily work. • Maintain documentation specific to position. Community Engagement: • Represent the Council at professional meetings and outreach events. • Write newsletter articles and appear on television or radio. • Participate in local, regional, and/or national professional practice networks. Professional Conduct: • Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding personnel matters, health and employment information, business practices, and client information. • Engage in respectful and professional interactions with community members, clients, peers, and colleagues. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be available to travel. In addition, the individual must be able to read and interpret documents; and write routine reports and correspondence with demonstrated basic computer literacy skills. The individual must be able to speak effectively before groups of people, or employees of the organization. Education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education. Three to five years of experience in an early childhood center, school-age program, or family child care home. A NYS Credentialed Trainers Certificate required. • Must have insured vehicle and be legally eligible to drive to regular program assignments • Must be able to respond to diverse physical demands of program assignments. • Must be able to perform the above essential duties in the following manner: • Work independently, using independent judgment. • Maintain knowledge of professional field • Be professional in dress, speech, and work behaviors. • Communicate effectively in program mediums. • Respond to customer needs. • Work with a flexible schedule and demonstrate effective time management.
