Job Description:

Sunnyside Community Services After School Program Position Overview Reporting directly to the Program Director, the Theatre/Drama Teacher will implement and teach basic Theatre and Drama skills to students. The teacher is primarily responsible for delivering courses, including tailoring the curriculum for different levels of instruction and developing lesson plans. The teacher also is responsible for tracking and reporting student data and achievement results. The teacher will help design and organize various culminating events throughout the year where the children will perform for an audience. The Instructor must be an active member of the Sunnyside Community Services Youth and Family Services team and demonstrate a strong commitment to the agency’s overall commitment to community building. Position Responsibilities 1. Program Implementation • Provide Theatrical and Dramatic instruction to Youth participants three days per week, nine to fifteen hours per week. • Formulate exciting and comprehensive age appropriate lesson plans. • Administer tests to assess progress. 2. Planning, Evaluation, and Referral • Tailor the curriculum for each level of instruction to match student needs. • Develop daily lesson plans, provide instruction, evaluate academic progress of individual students on a scheduled basis, and track relevant data. 3. Training and Development • Meet regularly with supervisor and other staff members to share best practices and address challenges. 5. Perform other duties as required. Requirements: • Teacher experience with a minimum of two years’ experience • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and accurate data, with keen attention to detail. • Experience working with children. • Must be committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to the diverse cultures and backgrounds of participants.
