Job Description:

Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey is a leading provider of vocational, youth and community redevelopment services for people with special needs. With more than 70 programs in 30 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island and Northern New Jersey, our services extend a helping hand, and facilitate empowerment, self-help and service for more than 100,000 persons each year The Youth Services Department is seeking Group Leaders to join their team in both the Brooklyn and Queens areas to provide cultural and recreational activities to program participants that include physical activities and quiet games.Essential functions and duties include, but are not limited to, working directly with all participants during an assigned day and assisting children with their homework.Will also supervise children on trips and during transportation from area schools and maintain safety at all times. Actively ensure participants safety inside and outside of building. ·Follow program schedule ·Defuse conflict among participants ·Encourage participant enthusiasm during all activities. Be aware of activities that are engaging to the group ·Attend mandatory training as per DYCD regulations Qualified candidates will have a minimum requirement of being a High School student, college student a plus.Candidate must have one year of experience in working with youth and physical education.Effective communication skills in dealing with children, parents, co-workers and supervisors are required. CPR/First Aid certification desired. Compliance required for NYC Department of Health and NYC Department of Education hiring policies
