Job Description:

The Group Leader is responsible to oversee the safety and well-being of a group of 20 school-aged participants in CHCF’s after school programs. Group Leaders must love children, be flexible and understanding, act as a positive role model and be a team player. Group Leaders are a critical part of the success of the after school program, as they provide direction, comfort, innovation and partnership to the after school program. Group Leaders are actively engaged in all activities and trips.
 
Essential Job Functions:
 
Supervision of students
·         Assures all students are safe
·         Acts as a positive adult role model
·         Reinforces good communication and respectful behavior
·         Ensures all participants in the group get daily snack
·         Ensures classroom/space is clean and organized
·         Ensures participants utilize homework time effectively and assist     when needed
·         Ensures all materials and games stay in good condition and treated with respect
·         Maintain group control
 
Lessons
·         Creates and executes age-appropriate lesson plans
·         Incorporates and implements strategies and material gained from trainings and professional development, as well as resources in after school library
·         Creatively adapts lessons as needed; be flexible
 
Teamwork
·         Collaborates with Assistant Group Leader
·         Provides input and ideas to improve and expand after-school programming
·         Communicates with Assistant, with Site Coordinator, with teachers, with administration, and other school and program staff
·         Attends trainings and meetings when required
·         Actively engages in all activities and trips
 
Administration
·         Takes daily attendance and snack count
·         Prepares attendance logs and reports in a timely fashion
·         Documents incidents and fills out accident reports when needed

Required Skills/Experience:

Requirements
·         Must love children
·         Must be a problem solver
·         Excellent interpersonal skills
·         Must possess strong listening skills
·         Must be punctual
·         Must be responsible
·        Strong background in iOS software highly preferable
·         Knowledgeable in the use and maintenance of iPad
 
Minimum Educational Qualifications
·         High School diploma
·         Some college credits in early childhood, youth development, or education preferred
 
Experience
·         Some related experience working with children is preferred
Schedule
·         Monday to Friday afternoons – must be able to make a commitment to being on time every day
