Job Description:

In the role of a Project Gametime Early Learners Activity Specialist,you are directly responsible for providing activities to grades K - 2 in an after school setting
Specifically you will:
  • Facilitate a variety of enrichment activities(dance, movement, arts, active reading, music) for young people (ages 5-7). ALL Project Gametime activities take place in school settings, including camps and/or community centers
  • Develop lesson plans and prepare materials for each workshop session
  • Use a wide variety of techniques to relentlessly engage hard-to-reach, sometimes resistant, young people build and sustain strong, productive working relationships with site staff
  • Maintain a high level of flexibility and professionalism at all times
  • Collect, organize, and submit participant sign in sheets, surveys, etc. Submit written reflections of each workshop session to PGT Program Director on a bi-weekly basis Work closely with PGT Leadership to expand and deepen facilitation skill set and tool box
  • Attend additional meetings with program staff: as necessary, average 3-7 hours per workshop Other duties, as necessary

  • This position will require travel to various locations. Must own vehicle or have ongoing access to vehicle to ensure reliable transportation to and from training sites.
  • You must have outstanding communication skills-in addition to maintaining an open line of communication, you'll demonstrate excellent communication skills, including good phone and email etiquette and the ability to facilitate small and large group presentations.
  • Requires flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in an after school or camp setting leading activities and developing lesson plans.
  • Strong content knowledge of engaging recreational and artistic activities for youth.
  • Thorough knowledge of classroom management, behavior management, and positive youth development principles.
  • Interest in providing quality hands-on theme based projects, and recreation experiences to youth in grades K-12
  • Experience preparing program participants for sharing, culminating events, and exhibits.
  • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds in school and community center settings.
  • Strong professionalism with the ability to take on multiple responsibilities, be flexible, and possess a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of the after school program model with the ability to enforce program expectations and department policies.
  • Passionate about providing quality artistic and recreational experiences to youth of all ages.
  • Must be able to work five days a week Monday-Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, and on select holidays from 8:00am-6:00pm(if applicable)
  • Co-teach with other specialist in the classroom and lead groups if necessary
  • Find/Create opportunities for students to learn and build upon their skills and interests.
  • Maintain records of all participants and activities including attendance sheets and progress within the activity.
