Job Description:

  • Essential Functions:
  • Interview participants /clients to determine social emotional, academic assessment, skills, knowledge, interest and motivation
  • Develop with the participant/client , parents and school staff an Individual Service Strategy which outlines personal, educational and career goals, and steps to be taken to qualify for employment
  • Document advisory session and interactions with school staff
  • Schedule and maintain regular academic advising sessions for every student ( a minimum of once a month for a minimum of 30 minutes per session) to monitor progress.
  • Provide group and individual counseling dealing with the myriad of problems facing the population being served
  • Make support service referrals and serve as and advocate for population. Obtain feedback and monitor results of assistance
  • Attend regular staff meetings with Assistant Vice President to share information, professional development workshops and  program events
  • Monitor participant progress and develop strategies to ensure applicant/client satisfaction and success
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Vice President

Required Skills/Experience:

BS in behavioral science or two years experience in testing, assessment and counseling.  Must have experience in dealing with economically disadvantaged population. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual a plus.  CPR/First Aide certification desired. Compliance required for NYC Department of Health and NYC Department of Education hiring policies.
