We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Cheerleading Activity Instructor to teach and facilitate a youth centered Cheerleading class, including two yearly showcases. REPORTS TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR, THE AFTERSCHOOL AT MADIBA PREP LOCATION: 1014 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11221 HOURS: Up to 9 Hours/Weeks; Non-exempt MAJOR DUTIES: -Create and facilitate two Cheerleading classes per week based on students’ interest. -Develop cheerleading curriculum; promoting creativity, self-expression, mastery, and emotional and professional growth. -Provide statistical and narrative reports. -Attend and participate in staff meetings. -Create a youth development, strength based environment, fostering a sense of belonging, safety, and community to participants. -Actively participate in Community Hour prior to activity. -Collaborate with the Good Shepherds Day Program. -Document classes/workshop planning as required. -Prepares students to perform in two showcases throughout the year. QUALIFICATIONS: -High School Diploma or GED required, college a plus. -Some college and experience with adolescents preferred. -Experience and/or training relevant to the position required. -Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
