Job Description:

Position:         Assistant Teacher, Gary Klinsky Children’s Centers
Program:         Family and Children’s Programs
Reports to:     Site Director,  Gary Klinsky Children’s Centers
 
Brooklyn Community Services is one of Brooklyn’s first and largest non-sectarian social services agencies. Serving more than 10,000 individuals annually, BCS is committed to a broad and diverse range of services including prevention of foster care placement; crisis intervention; early childhood and after school education; and vocational training, job placement, and clinical services to adults with physical and developmental disabilities, and histories of mental illness.

Gary Klinsky Children’s Centers (GKCC) provide after-school learning opportunities to children from low-income families, who attend some of New York City’s lowest performing schools. The GKCC program is offered every weekday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at four public elementary schools located in East New York, Crown Heights, and Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The four GKCC centers serve over 650 children from kindergarten through middle school.
 
Responsibilities:

Part-time Assistant Teacher positions, 3:00- 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Substitute Assistant Teacher positions also available. Work with teacher to provide academic enrichment. The student teacher ratio is 1 to 10.  Rate is $10/hr.

Some college education preferred.  Background in music, drama, dance, photography, crafts, sewing, or the arts is a plus.  Must enjoy working with children.
