Since its founding in 1916, Grand Street Settlement has offered a continuum of innovative programs ranging from early childhood and youth development to community support for adults and seniors.

Grand Street Settlement provides residents of the Lower East Side community with the tools and support they need to overcome challenging circumstances and build productive lives and futures. Its comprehensive and integrated array of culturally relevant programs and services assists more than 10,000 area residents of all ages annually–from toddlers in Early Head Start and Day Care to school-age youth, young adults, and senior citizens.

Throughout its many decades of service, Grand Street has redefined its programs to respond to current community needs and to the ever-changing ethnic and racial makeup of its residents. Active participant involvement and leadership help inform program development and design. The Settlement's programs are run by an experienced, dedicated staff of more than 175 professionals who are intimately familiar with the area's needs and resources. Scores of volunteers, including parents of program participants, are an integral element of program activities, serving as mentors, tutors, counselors, and classroom assistants.

Grand Street Settlement is a member of the United Neighborhood Houses.
